Taylor Swift Wedding: Tim McGraw has set the record straight on a wedding rumor.

He did not perform at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's big day. Some headlines said he did. They were wrong.

The country star is 59. He spoke with Esquire for its "What I've Learned" interview series.

The installment was released Wednesday, Oct. 28. McGraw told editor-in-chief Michael Sebastian that the performance claim was only a rumor.

He added that the internet does not always get things right.

He did attend the celebration. It took place Friday, July 3, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. His wife, Faith Hill, 59, joined him as a guest.

McGraw spoke warmly about Swift, 36. He said she has a close bond with his family.

He called her a genius songwriter. He said her music reaches people across generations.

Their friendship goes back nearly two decades. It began soon after Swift released her debut single in 2006.

The song was titled "Tim McGraw." It was named after him. Since then, McGraw and Hill have acted as mentors to the pop star.

They have offered guidance and encouragement throughout her career. The three have also shared the stage several times.

McGraw said Swift has always been close to his household. He and Hill have three daughters: Gracie, 29, Maggie, 28, and Audrey, 24.

Swift has visited their home. She has spent time with the girls. McGraw called her a special person.

He said she is one of the most talented people he has ever met. He said he could not be prouder of her.

He had kind words for Kelce, too. McGraw said the family always saw Swift as a special artist and person.

They still feel that way. He said they are thrilled she found Kelce. He called the NFL star a cool guy.

McGraw is not the only celebrity to address wedding performance talk. Several stars did take the stage. Paul McCartney performed. So did Stevie Nicks. Kelce, 37, even sang himself.

Other guests have shared their own clarifications. Nelly and Ashanti appeared on Good Day New York on Oct. 21.

They said they did not perform. They still raved about the event. They described the wedding as amazing, beautiful and magical.

The guest list was massive. About 1,000 people attended. Hundreds were A-list friends and industry tastemakers.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco were there. So were Ed Sheeran, Emma Stone and Jessica Alba.

Hugh Grant, Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Lopez also came. Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid joined them.

Zoë Kravitz, Dakota Johnson, Karlie Kloss and Ethan Hawke rounded out the list.

Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
