Landman: Production has started on season 3 of "Landman." Paramount+ announced Oct. 1 that cameras are rolling in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Taylor Sheridan drama stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris. Season 2 wrapped in January.
The show will not return on its earlier November schedule. Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date. Production is expected to continue into 2027.
New power player joins the cast
Michael Kelly joins the series as William Crockett. Paramount describes the character as the head of the world's largest oil management firm.
Thornton returns alongside Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter and Sam Elliott.
Four actors move up to series regular
Four actors have been promoted for season 3:
- Colm Feore as Nathan
- Mustafa Speaks as Boss
- Bobbi Salvor Menuez as Paigyn
- Francesca Xuereb as Cheyenne
Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie and James Jordan also return.
A season 2 romance may be fading
ScreenRant reports that season 3 is largely leaving behind the relationship between Rebecca and Charlie. Kayla Wallace plays Rebecca. Guy Burnet plays Charlie Newsom.
The pair spent much of season 2 growing closer. In the finale, they agreed to try a long-distance relationship.
Charlie was headed off to oversee construction of M-Tex's offshore oil rig.
That setup does not appear to carry much weight into the new season. The shift fits where the show left its central character.
Tommy was fired from M-Tex. He ended season 2 getting ready to launch CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle.
His son, Cooper, is involved. The venture is backed by cartel boss Gallino.
A streaming hit on the rise
The changes arrive as "Landman" keeps growing. ScreenRant has described it as one of the biggest hits on streaming, citing its performance on Paramount+ and other platforms.
Season 2 premiered in November 2025. It drew more than 9.2 million streaming views in its first two days.
Paramount said that was a 262% jump over the season 1 premiere. At the time, it was the most-watched original series premiere in Paramount+ history.
That momentum has raised interest in where Sheridan takes the story next. The series centers on oil, money and the fight for control of both.
Tommy is no longer just trying to survive inside another man's company. He is building his own.
With a new major character, four promoted regulars and at least one dropped storyline, season 3 enters production with a different setup.
A premiere date is the next piece of news fans are waiting for.
