Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 Results: Max Verstappen secured back-to-back victories on Sunday. He dominated the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with ease.

After a wild qualifying session on Saturday, he lined up on pole. A sharp start in Baku kept him clear, and no rival came close to challenging him.

“This weekend has been unbelievable for us,” Verstappen said after the race. “The last one was already special, but to come back here and win again feels incredible.”

He also reminded that he had triumphed in Baku back in 2022. “The race itself was pretty straightforward,” he continued.

“It’s never simple on this track, especially with the strong winds making the car tricky to handle. But I’m really delighted with how everything came together.”

By his own high standards, the Red Bull driver has had a challenging season. His victory in Monza was the first since mid-May. Now, he finally seems to be hitting top form.

For championship leader Oscar Piastri, the story was very different. His race was over almost immediately after a crash on the opening lap. He ended up watching from a simple plastic chair on the side of the track.

The Australian lined up ninth on the grid after crashing in qualifying. From the start, nothing went his way. He jumped the lights, came to a halt, dropped to the back, and then slid into the wall at turn five.

That string of errors gave his McLaren teammate Lando Norris a golden chance to chip away at Piastri’s lead in the standings. But Norris couldn’t make the most of it.

Norris nearly clipped the wall in qualifying and started Sunday’s race from seventh. He never looked like a threat. A slow pit stop on lap 38 ended any slim chance of reaching the podium.

He crossed the line in the same spot he began, seventh. With both drivers underperforming, McLaren squandered the chance to seal the constructors’ championship.

It was a standout day for Mercedes. George Russell fought off illness to take second place. Young Andrea Kimi Antonelli, just 19, impressed by finishing fourth.

Carlos Sainz rounded out the podium, giving Williams its first top-three finish since 2021. He called it the most memorable moment of his career.
