The sixth-seeded player in the women’s singles draw was defeated by unranked French competitor Diane Parry at Roland Garros.

The loss made Anisimova the latest high-seeded player to be eliminated during the opening three rounds of the tournament.

Anisimova moved within reach of victory in the final set. She held a 5-4 lead and had an opportunity to break Parry’s serve to close out the match.

Parry, however, remained composed under pressure. The French player held serve to even the set at 5-5 and keep her hopes alive.

Parry then seized complete control of the match. She won seven consecutive points to secure a dominant 10-3 tiebreak victory and complete the upset.

The victory marked a major milestone for 23-year-old Diane Parry.

The French player advanced to the fourth round of Roland Garros for the first time in her career.

Parry is scheduled to face unranked Maja Chwalinska on Monday.

A place in the tournament quarterfinals will be at stake when the two players meet.
