Inde Navarrette: Inde Navarrette made her mark on "Saturday Night Live." She took over as host this weekend.
The comedy stage was a new test for the rising star.
She arrived fresh off her "scream queen" debut in "Obsession." Now she showed off her comedy skills.
Her opening monologue set the tone. She teased her upcoming Marvel role as Rogue in "X-Men."
She joked that she must now get into "Marvel shape."
The line also poked fun at the controversial opening monologue Shane Gillis delivered on the last episode. The audience loved it.
Navarrette also made one thing clear. She said she is nothing like Nikki, her character in Curry Barker's "Obsession."
Then she introduced her boyfriend. He sat in the studio audience, taped to his chair.
The cast joined in on the fun. Marcello Hernandez wore a costume as a flashy TSA agent. Kam Patterson played Elizabeth Holmes.
Jeremy Culhane showed up as Wolverine. He pitched himself for the role in the upcoming film directed by Jake Schreier.
Veronika Slowikowska and Grace Reiter played Kelly Clarkson and a mechanical singing bird.
The bit nodded to Clarkson's online feud with a Brooklyn gift shop.
The sketches kept coming. In her first one, Navarrette and Hernandez played ghost children from the 1930s.
The pair haunted the Queen Mary. They kept distracting a tourist who wanted to learn where another ghost's treasure was hidden.
A fake Delta commercial followed. It launched "Delta Disruptive," a made-up section for unruly passengers.
Mikey Day played a passenger who tried to pry open the exit door. Navarrette delivered a sharp impression of a viral social media personality.
She repeated the woman's famous line, "She is not real!"
In "The Uninterested Woman Dating Show," Navarrette played Dane. Dane was one of the cocky, overconfident contestants.
Jane Wickline and Sarah Sherman played her fellow suitors.
"The Inventor" took a dark turn. Navarrette played the wife of a late inventor. She came home after his funeral to find his many gadgets.
One was a robot he built for her, named PD-44. Six years later, she brought home a date, played by Ben Marshall.
The robot attacked him violently and blew him up. Then she realized what the robot's name stood for.
Covered in blood, she said, "He did love me. My husband did love me after all."
Navarrette and Hernandez teamed up again for a Spanish soap opera spoof. They played stars forced to promote Sprite Cherry Lime Habanero mid-scene.
The product placement went badly. The sketch ended in a dark twist. Hernandez's character urged her to drink the soda.
The plot involved her pregnancy, which was conceived with his brother.
One more sketch mixed kids' TV with crime drama. It was called "PAW Patrol: Special Victims Unit."
Navarrette played Ryder as a no-nonsense investigator. Her job was to crack a gruesome murder case.
The night also marked a return for Gracie Abrams. She served as musical guest for the second time. Her first appearance came in 2024.
