Tarek El Moussa: Tarek El Moussa has a clear answer for anyone questioning his lavish birthday gift. His 16-year-old daughter earned it.

The former "Flip or Flop" co-host says Taylor never expected a $150,000 SUV. She got one anyway.

Tarek, 45, shares Taylor with ex-wife Christina Haack.

Along with his wife, Heather El Moussa, the trio bought her a luxury BMW X5 in August. Her 16th birthday came the following month.

Tarek opened up about the gift on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

He appeared on Nicole Lapin's Money Rehab podcast. He said Taylor truly deserved the reward.

He pointed to her record at school and on the field. Taylor holds a 4.2 GPA. She was MVP of her freshman soccer team.

Tarek called her a fantastic kid who works extremely hard. In his view, the car was not simply handed over. She earned it.

The gift was also a total surprise. Taylor never asked for an expensive vehicle.

Tarek said she would have been happy with a used Honda. He wanted peace of mind instead.

Safety was his top concern. He described the BMW as built like a tank. Taylor is in a safe car, he said, and she loves it.

Lapin, 42, is a former CNN and CNBC anchor. She joked that she wanted Tarek to adopt her. Then she asked a fair question. Could the car spoil Taylor?

Tarek said no. He explained her background. Taylor flew on private jets as a toddler. She has grown up around nice things.

His own childhood was very different. He had almost nothing. That left him obsessed with owning things. Taylor sees the world another way.

He said a spoiled kid would not have a 4.2 GPA. A spoiled kid would not be a team MVP.

A spoiled kid would not put in extra coaching. For Tarek, the car is a reward for all that effort.

He is also teaching Taylor about money. She has already invested in stocks and real estate.

Tarek, Heather and Christina, 43, surprised Taylor with the car in August. The three adults shared a message about the moment.

They joked that the bigger surprise might be that all three of them pulled it off together. They said the car was well deserved and told Taylor how much they love her.

Taylor looked shocked when she saw the gift. Then she hugged her father in an emotional moment.

Tarek and Heather, 39, marked five years of marriage on Oct. 23. They also share son Tristan, 3.

Tarek and Christina share son Brayden, 10. Christina has another son, Hudson, 5, with ex-husband Ant Anstead.

Earlier this month, Tarek spoke to E! News at Page Six's 2026 Virtual Reali-Tea Awards in New York City.

He called Taylor the best kid. He said the family wanted to surprise her to honor her hard work.

Heather said Taylor is very grateful. She cried when the family surprised her. Heather called it a sweet moment.
