Victor Wembanyama: Victor Wembanyama has been cleared to return after exiting the NBA’s concussion protocol, the San Antonio Spurs confirmed on Sunday.

Victor Wembanyama cleared for Game 4 against Portland after passing NBA concussion protocol neurological benchmarks.

The rookie star is set to play in Game 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers. Wembanyama sustained the injury during Game 2 earlier in the week.

He traveled with the team to Portland on Thursday while continuing to complete the league-mandated recovery process. The Spurs held him out of Game 3 as a precaution.

San Antonio secured a win in that matchup. The victory gave the Spurs a 2-1 lead in the series. Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Victor Wembanyama has been officially cleared to return after successfully completing the NBA’s concussion protocol, following a series of required medical evaluations.

Players must meet multiple recovery benchmarks before being approved for game action.

These results are measured against baseline neurological tests conducted at the beginning of the season.

Wembanyama earned clearance from both the San Antonio Spurs medical staff and the league on Sunday. He passed all neurological assessments as part of the process.

The protocol also required a gradual increase in physical activity. Wembanyama began cardio work 24 hours after sustaining the injury.

He then progressed through higher levels of activity over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The successful completion of each step paved the way for his return to competition.

Victor Wembanyama delivered one of the most impactful seasons in the NBA this year. He became the league’s first unanimous winner of the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Wembanyama was also named one of three finalists for the Most Valuable Player honor. The Spurs star averaged 25 points per game.

He added 11.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest. Wembanyama also led the league with 3.1 blocks per game.

His all-around performance established him as one of the NBA’s most dominant two-way players.
