Anthony Edwards Injury: The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without star guard Anthony Edwards for multiple weeks after he sustained a left knee injury on Saturday night.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Edwards hyperextended his knee and was diagnosed with a bone bruise following medical evaluation.

Further testing confirmed there is no ligament damage. That outcome provides some relief for Minnesota’s medical staff and coaching personnel.

Despite avoiding a more severe injury, Edwards is expected to miss the remainder of the Timberwolves’ first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets, league sources said.

His absence represents a significant setback for Minnesota as it continues its postseason campaign.

The Minnesota Timberwolves could face an extended absence of star guard Anthony Edwards if the team advances further in the postseason.

League expectations indicate Edwards may miss at least part of the second round, should Minnesota move past the Denver Nuggets.

Minnesota strengthened its position in the series with a 112-96 victory in Game 4 on Saturday. The win gave the Timberwolves a commanding 3-1 lead.

Edwards suffered the injury during the second quarter of that game. He landed awkwardly while attempting a late block. His left knee bent backward on impact.

The four-time All-Star fell to the floor in visible pain. He was later assisted to the locker room for further evaluation.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were dealt another major blow early in Game 4 as starting guard Donte DiVincenzo exited just 79 seconds after tipoff with a torn Achilles.

The injury leaves Minnesota without its starting backcourt alongside Anthony Edwards as the series shifts to Game 5 on Monday night in Denver against the Denver Nuggets.

Despite the setbacks, the Timberwolves delivered a dominant second-half performance. Minnesota outscored Denver 62-42 over the final two quarters.

Reserve guard Ayo Dosunmu stepped into a larger role and produced a standout performance. He scored a career-high 43 points.

Dosunmu shot 13-of-17 from the field and made all five of his three-point attempts.

His scoring surge helped power Minnesota to a decisive victory despite the absence of its top guards.
