Iowa State QB Rocco Becht transfer announcement. The veteran quarterback enters the portal with 26 career wins.

His move makes one of the most successful returning quarterbacks in college football available to other programs.

Becht has guided Iowa State to 26 victories during his three seasons as the team’s primary starter. No other quarterback projected to return next season has recorded more wins over that span.

Rocco Becht remains one of the most statistically accomplished quarterbacks set to return in college football.

He has accumulated 9,274 passing yards in his career, a total that ranks second among returning players behind TCU transfer Josh Hoover.

Becht has delivered 64 touchdown passes during his time at Iowa State. He has produced 83 total touchdowns when combining his passing and rushing scores.

Those numbers place him among the top five returning quarterbacks nationwide in both categories.

Rocco Becht’s future has drawn added attention following the departure of his former head coach, Matt Campbell, to Penn State. Penn State is expected to be among the programs monitoring Becht’s availability.

Sources indicate Becht plans to evaluate interest from across the country before choosing his next destination. Becht authored a historic 2024 season at Iowa State.

He led the Cyclones to an 11–3 record, marking the first double-digit win season in school history. Iowa State reached the Big 12 Championship Game and secured a victory in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

Becht finished the season with 25 touchdown passes. Rocco Becht managed several health issues during the 2025 campaign.

He recently had surgery to address a labrum injury in his non-throwing shoulder. Becht also suffered an AC joint injury to his throwing shoulder late in the season.

The quarterback is a redshirt junior and has one year of eligibility remaining. He redshirted in 2022 and moved into the starting role the following season.

Becht earned Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year honors in 2023. He has added 499 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground over the course of his career.
