Lizard Music: Dwayne Johnson is unrecognizable again. The star was seen filming in Brooklyn on Tuesday. He was shooting "Lizard Music," a new film from director Benny Safdie.

This is not their first project together. Johnson and Safdie previously teamed up on 2025's "The Smashing Machine."

That role required a major physical makeover. His new one goes in a very different direction.

Johnson now plays a 70-year-old character known as the Chicken Man. He wore a tan bucket hat and matching coat.

He carried a slice of pizza as he walked through the neighborhood. Beside him was young co-star Theo Clark Leber. The boy held a giant stuffed lizard.

The transformation comes from makeup artist Kazu Hiro. He recently aged Tom Cruise into an elderly oil baron for "Digger."

"Lizard Music" is based on Daniel Pinkwater's children's book of the same name. The story centers on a young boy.

He spots odd lizard musicians on late-night television. That discovery leads him to an unusual friendship.

His new friend is a peculiar man with an elderly chicken.

The cast is packed with familiar faces:

  •  Rachel McAdams
  •  Colman Domingo
  •  David Krumholtz
  •  Jeff Goldblum
  •  Alicia Silverstone
  •  Regina Hall

Amazon MGM Studios is releasing the film. It arrives on Christmas Day 2027.

Johnson spoke about the project at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival. He was taking part in a career retrospective.

He said saying yes was easy. Safdie needed only about 45 minutes to win him over.

Johnson also revealed a big physical change. He lost 30 pounds of muscle for the part.

He said he was thrilled to transform again, as he did in "The Smashing Machine." Then he added a joke. The role, he said, means eating less chicken.
