Ian Krager, the spokesperson for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, declined to say whether she plans to run for reelection or step away from Congress at the end of her current term, ABC News reported.
Posting on X Monday afternoon, Krager said Pelosi remains “fully focused on her mission to win the Yes on 50 election in California,” adding that any talk about her political future is “pure speculation.”
A short time later, he shared another post that read, “Those who know do not speak. Those who speak do not know,” suggesting Pelosi’s next move will remain private until she decides to make it public.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries declined to comment in detail on whether former Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to retire, saying her decision will come in her own time.
“Ultimately, we’ll wait for her to decide, and there’s really nothing more to add beyond that,” Jeffries said.
California’s filing deadline for congressional races is set for March 6, 2026.
State Representative Scott Wiener, a Democrat from San Francisco, has already announced his intention to run for Pelosi’s seat, though the official filing window does not open until February 9, 2026.
