Taylor Fritz Wimbledon: Taylor Fritz secured a spot in the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the third time. He led Australian Jordan Thompson 6-1, 3-0 on Sunday. The match took place on No. 1 Court.
Unfortunately, Thompson had to retire due to injury. The fifth-seeded American advanced as a result of the mid-match withdrawal.
Taylor Fritz came to London riding high after winning a record fourth title at Eastbourne last week. His journey at Wimbledon hasn’t been easy.
In the first round, he battled hard and came back from the edge to beat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in five sets. In the second round, he again went the distance to overcome Gabriel Diallo.

But his fourth-round clash was much shorter. He played just 40 minutes against Jordan Thompson.
The Australian had his right leg heavily strapped and was dealing with a back problem. It was their third meeting in the Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
“This isn’t the way I wanted to win,” said Fritz. “I was really looking forward to facing Jordan today. I wanted to go out there and play some great tennis. It’s honestly disappointing.”
He praised Thompson’s effort. “He’s been fighting hard—playing five-set matches. Just yesterday, he was out there for a long doubles match. I respect him for showing up today.” Fritz added.

Fritz will now face Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals. Khachanov ended Kamil Majchrzak’s Wimbledon run with a straight-sets win — 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 — on No. 2 Court. The Russians had earlier pulled off a thrilling comeback.
