Mirra Andreeva: Seventh seed Mirra Andreeva continued her strong run at Wimbledon. She reached the round of 16 for the third straight Grand Slam. On Saturday, she secured a straight-sets victory to move ahead.

Meanwhile, former champion Elena Rybakina faced an early exit. The 11th seed lost to the 23rd seed Clara Tauson. Tauson won 7-6 (6), 6-3 in a third-round match briefly interrupted by rain.

Mirra Andreeva, just 18 years old, continued her impressive form. She defeated unseeded American Hailey Baptiste in straight sets. The score was 6-1, 6-3.

With this win, Andreeva became the youngest woman to reach the last 16 in the first three Grand Slams of the year. The last to do so was Nicole Vaidisova in 2006 at age 17.

The first week of Wimbledon saw several unexpected results. In the middle of the chaos, Mirra Andreeva stood strong.

She is now the highest-seeded player remaining in the bottom half of the women’s draw. So far, she hasn’t lost a single set. This performance matches her best run at the All England Club.

Hailey Baptiste was chasing history of her own. She had reached the third round in two straight majors. Before that, she had never gone beyond the second round.

At Wimbledon, she was hoping to become just the second unseeded American woman in the last ten years to make it to the round of 16.

"I was really focused out there today," said Mirra Andreeva. She is currently being coached by 1994 Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez.

Andreeva added that she had watched her opponent’s first-round match. She expected a tough challenge. "She plays with variety and has a powerful forehand. So, I knew it wouldn’t be easy," Andreeva explained.

"With each match I play, I feel like my game keeps improving," she said with confidence.

Russia’s Mirra Andreeva now waits to see who her next opponent will be. It will be the winner of the match between defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, seeded 17th, and Emma Navarro. Navarro is the top-seeded American woman left in the draw at No. 10.

Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, was playing in her fifth appearance at the tournament. She had made it to the second week every time before this.
Until Saturday, she had never lost a match in straight sets at Wimbledon.

Clara Tauson reached the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for just the second time in her career. She now joins Caroline Wozniacki as the only Danish woman to reach this stage more than once in the Open era. Both have done it twice.

Tauson was thrilled after the win. "Before this grass-court season, I had never won a match on grass," she said. "So I’m really proud and happy with how I played today."

This victory is special for her, especially after losing in all three of her previous main draw appearances at Wimbledon.

Clara Tauson dominated with her first serve, winning 73% of those points. "My serve is always a big weapon," she said after the match. It was a statement win over Rybakina, who had defeated Tauson in their previous two meetings.

Next, Tauson will face either No. 8 seed Iga Swiatek or unseeded American Danielle Collins. A spot in the quarterfinals will be on the line.

No Danish woman has ever made it to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. On the men's side, only Holger Rune has done it — and that was in 2023.

A new fourth-round clash is now confirmed. No. 19 seed Liudmila Samsonova and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro both secured wins to move forward.

Bouzas Maneiro grabbed a hard-fought victory against Dayana Yastremska. The final score was 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.

Last year, Bouzas Maneiro made headlines by defeating the 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova in the first round. Yastremska, on the other hand, had shocked No. 2 seed Coco Gauff in the opening round this year.
