The Indiana Pacers were never mentioned in any of the reporting. That hasn't stopped speculation from fans online.
James is set to headline a live taping of his "Mind the Game" podcast Thursday at 1:15 p.m. ET. The event takes place at Fanatics Fest in New York.
It marks his first podcast appearance since entering free agency and departing the Lakers.
Regular co-host Steve Nash is unavailable for this episode. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton will fill in as guest co-host instead.
That pairing alone has fueled speculation about a possible announcement or hint about James' next team.
The timing has added to the anticipation. Charania reported that James has received all the pitches he needs from interested teams.
