Whitney Leavitt Hulu: Whitney Leavitt is not done with reality TV.
The star is getting her own series at Hulu. The Hollywood Reporter first learned of the project.
Hulu has given the green light to the untitled show. It centers on Leavitt. She will star in it and produce it.
Her husband, Conner, will join her as an executive producer. The couple will work through their company, Leavitt Media House.
The news follows a big career shift. Leavitt appeared in the first five seasons of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives."
She announced her exit from the series in May. In the months since, she hinted that a solo project might be coming.
She confirmed it Wednesday. Her message was short. "See you soon," she wrote.
Her profile has grown fast. Last year, Leavitt competed on Season 34 of "Dancing With the Stars."
That run opened the door to a record-setting turn on Broadway in "Chicago."
She kept filming "Mormon Wives" during both projects. She then announced this spring that Season 5 would be her last.
More is on the way. Leavitt has joined the cast of Peacock's Emmy-winning hit "The Traitors."
She is also heading to the big screen. She will make her feature film debut in the holiday rom-com "All For Christmas."
She stars in the film and serves as an executive producer. It arrives on Netflix on Nov. 24.
Her husband has also stepped into the spotlight. Conner competed on Season 35 of "Dancing With the Stars."
That appeared to signal strong interest from Disney in the Leavitt family.
Leavitt had already hinted at her plans. She spoke with The Hollywood Reporter in March.
She said she would never shut the door on reality TV. Her career, she said, is still taking shape.
"This is just the beginning," she said. She described it as something she had wanted for years.
She said she had been working toward it for a long time. "I couldn't be more grateful," she said.
She added that she felt she was only now stepping onto the ladder. Her plan, she said, is to climb it slowly.
Fans are already buzzing.
One fan summed up the mood with a pun. Love it or leavitt. Another viewer said Whitney has had a wild ride on the show. In Season 1, that fan never imagined she would become the breakout star. The viewer now believes she is likely the only cast member with real staying power.
