Johnny Depp: Johnny Depp has dropped a major hint about his future in the franchise.

The sixth Pirates of the Caribbean installment could bring him back as Captain Jack Sparrow. Nothing is confirmed yet.

Fans have debated his return for months. Now Depp has signaled he is open to revisiting the iconic role. He stopped short of sharing any details.

The actor spoke with Entertainment Tonight while promoting his upcoming film Ebenezer.

The Oscar-nominated star was asked about the long-discussed new chapter. His answer was careful.

He said his only real wish is to help the franchise end on a better note.

That depends on whether the plans for wrapping up the series are exactly where they need to be.

Entertainment Tonight asked whether Depp is making a return to the franchise. Jack Sparrow himself weighed in on where he and Jerry Bruckheimer stand on the next chapter of the treasured series.

Depp also spoke warmly about producer Jerry Bruckheimer. He called him a close friend.

He said he would go to work with Bruckheimer tomorrow on anything.

The project does not matter. He trusts the producer. Their friendship runs deep.

His comments have revived buzz around the film. The project was first teased in 2024.

Talk of a Depp comeback started when Bruckheimer spoke with Entertainment Weekly. He said he had discussed another film with the actor.

Bruckheimer believes Depp would sign on if he likes how the role is written. He noted that everything comes down to the script.

The team is still working on the screenplay. They want to make the movie.

They just need the right story. They have not quite gotten there yet. But they are close.

Depp led five Pirates of the Caribbean films between 2003 and 2017. The franchise earned about $4.5 billion worldwide.

There is still no official confirmation. Even so, Depp's words leave the door open for Captain Jack Sparrow to return.

The future installment has also been rumored to star Margot Robbie.
