Zay Flowers: The Baltimore Ravens opened their season with a 41-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The victory came at a cost.
Wide receiver Zay Flowers left the game with a hamstring injury. He was ruled out early in the fourth quarter.
Before exiting, Flowers was on pace for a career day. He caught five passes for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Rookie receiver Ja'Kobi Lane also left the game injured. He suffered a wrist injury in the first half.
Lane made one catch for 11 yards in his NFL debut. He did not return to the field after leaving.
Head coach Jesse Minter had no update on either player's status following the win.
The injuries left Baltimore's receiving corps thin. Rashod Bateman, LaJohntay Wester and Chris Moore were the only healthy wideouts active for the game.
Wester serves primarily as the team's punt returner. Moore was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's contest.
Two other Ravens receivers did not play. Rookie fourth-round pick Elijah Sarratt was inactive, and Devontez Walker sat out while recovering from a groin injury.
The exact moment Lane hurt his wrist remains unclear. Flowers' injury, however, came with about 5 minutes and 30 seconds left in the first half.
He grabbed his hamstring immediately after cornerback Sauce Gardner tackled him following a 12-yard reception.
Flowers had already been managing the same injury before kickoff. He missed two weeks of practice before returning to the field last week.
He was a full participant in Friday's practice and carried no injury designation heading into the season opener.
The setback comes just a month after Flowers signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension with the Ravens.
