Taylor Swift: Bebe Rexha is looking back on a 2019 Grammy Awards controversy.
This time, she is crediting a fellow pop star for her support.
Rexha spoke with E! News on the red carpet at the 2026 MTV VMAs.
She said Taylor Swift was among the few celebrities who contacted her at the time.
The episode dates back to the lead-up to the 2019 Grammys. Rexha was nominated that year.
She said she asked several designers about custom gowns for the red carpet.
According to her, many declined to dress her. She said they told her she was too big.
Rexha shared her frustration in an Instagram post, which has since been deleted. She noted that she wore a size 6 or 8.
She said that size should not be considered too large for a designer.
Her caption struck a more hopeful tone. She urged the fashion world to help women feel good about their bodies.
She also pushed back on the idea that only runway sizes deserve to be dressed. She closed with the hashtag #LOVEYOURBODY.
Rexha still attended the ceremony. She walked the Grammys red carpet that year and drew praise for her look.
Now she says one message stood out during that difficult time. It came from Swift. The two singers are the same age.
"I thought that was really, really kind of her," Rexha said of the gesture.
Rexha added that most people in the industry stayed quiet. A few did check in, she said.
But hearing from an artist at Swift's level meant a great deal. It made her feel she belonged, she said.
