He has canceled his weekend performances in Las Vegas.
The comic's real name is Scott Thompson. His representative confirmed the hospitalization in a statement.
The rep said Thompson is receiving the care and support he needs.
The statement also thanked fans for their prayers and concern. It asked that the family and those closest to him be given privacy.
TMZ reported Friday that Thompson was rushed to the hospital after a suicide attempt.
His representative has not confirmed the cause. The rep has also not shared any details about his condition.
Thompson canceled both his Friday and Saturday shows at the Luxor.
He has held a residency at the Las Vegas resort for 21 years. As of publication, he is still scheduled to perform there Monday night.
Carrot Top is known for his wild hair and high-energy stage antics. His act includes diving into a giant chest filled with comic props.
He has also worked in film and television. His movie credits include "Chairman of the Board" and "Pauly Shore Is Dead."
He has appeared as himself on "CSI," "Reno 911!" and, most recently, "Hacks."
