The 22-time All-Star informed the organization that he will not return for the 2026-27 season.

Now, six teams are reportedly in the running to land him. ESPN insider Shams Charania broke down the list.

It includes the Cavaliers, Heat, Timberwolves, Nuggets and 76ers. The Warriors round out the group.

Golden State and Cleveland have topped speculation all summer. The other three squads entered the picture more recently.

Offseason blockbuster trades reshaped the championship picture. Philadelphia landed Jaylen Brown.

Milwaukee no longer has Giannis Antetokounmpo. In a major blockbuster trade, he has joined the Miami Heat. Charlotte's roster features LaMelo Ball.

Those moves pushed each team into contender status, and onto James's radar.

Charania has also reported that James is taking his time. The four-time champion is "not in a rush" to make a call.

He's entering his 24th NBA season with no firm timeline in place.
