Hendon Hooker News: Quarterback Hendon Hooker is heading back to Tennessee after agreeing to a deal with the Tennessee Titans, according to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The move marks a return to familiar ground for the former college standout.
Hooker rose to national prominence during his time with the Tennessee Volunteers, where his performances helped position him as a notable quarterback prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Detroit Lions selected Hooker in the third round of that draft.
However, he was released by the team during final roster cuts late in the preseason.
Following his departure from Detroit, Hooker spent much of the season on practice squads.
He had brief stints with the Carolina Panthers and the New York Jets, continuing to develop without appearing in regular-season action.
Now back in Tennessee, Hooker will look to reestablish himself at the professional level.
The Titans add a familiar name with local ties as they continue to build depth at the quarterback position.
The New York Jets placed quarterback Hendon Hooker on their active roster ahead of their 2025 regular-season finale against the Buffalo Bills.
The decision allowed Hooker to be available for the team in the final game of the season.
Hooker, 28, has had limited game action in the NFL so far.
He has appeared in three career games. During those appearances, he completed six of nine passes for 62 yards.
Before turning professional, Hooker was highly productive in college with the Tennessee Volunteers.
Over two seasons at Tennessee, he threw for 6,080 yards and 58 touchdowns.
He also recorded just five interceptions during that period, showing strong efficiency and ball security.
