Rome Odunze Injury Update: Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze was ruled out of Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns after experiencing renewed discomfort in his injured foot during pregame preparations.
Odunze was not included on the team’s initial inactive list. His status changed shortly before kickoff, when the Bears confirmed he would not take the field.
The rookie had been listed as questionable entering the game. He also sat out last week’s loss to the Green Bay Packers while dealing with the same issue.
No additional information was immediately released regarding the extent of the injury or his availability moving forward.
Rome Odunze’s workload remained restricted in practice this week as he continued to deal with persistent foot and heel discomfort that has affected him since October.
The issue sidelined Odunze for last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers. It was the first time he had been unavailable at any point in his playing career.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze was added to the team’s injury report in October after dealing with pain that was first identified as a heel issue.
Odunze indicated the problem was not easily resolved. He said he has continued to track the condition alongside the Bears’ training personnel.
Even while managing the injury, Odunze has continued to produce at a high level. He leads Chicago in receptions with 44, ranks first in receiving yards with 661, and has scored six touchdowns this season.
