The development was reported by On3. According to On3 journalists Pete Nakos and Kelly Quinlan, Philo is planning to seek a transfer.
Philo has spent the past two seasons with the Yellow Jackets. He was part of the program’s quarterback depth during that time.
The quarterback will have three years of NCAA eligibility remaining at his next school. He is expected to explore new opportunities ahead of the upcoming college football season.
Philo’s anticipated decision adds to the growing movement of quarterbacks entering the transfer portal this cycle.
Aaron Philo operated as the backup quarterback behind Haynes King during the 2024 and 2025 seasons at Georgia Tech.
He saw game action in eight contests over that stretch.
Philo earned one start during his time in the lineup.
That start came in Georgia Tech’s win against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 6. He delivered an efficient performance in that game.
Philo completed 21 of his 28 passing attempts. He threw for 373 yards. He recorded one touchdown pass and was intercepted once.
Over the past two seasons, Philo completed 59 passes on 102 attempts. He totaled 938 yards through the air. He finished with two passing touchdowns and three interceptions.
Philo also added value as a runner. He logged 16 rushing attempts. He gained 95 yards on the ground and scored one rushing touchdown.
Aaron Philo developed as a quarterback at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Georgia. He entered the college ranks as a three-star recruit in the 2024 class.
Philo was evaluated among the nation’s prospects as the No. 708 overall player. He was also ranked as the No. 46 quarterback in his recruiting cycle.
Those assessments came from the Rivals Industry Ranking.
The composite ranking blends data from all three major national recruiting services.
Aaron Philo concluded his high school career as Georgia’s all-time passing yards leader.

This season’s CFP semifinals are set for January 8 and 9. The national championship will be held on January 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
