John Hegeman Meta: Meta’s chief revenue officer, John Hegeman, announced on Tuesday that he is stepping down to start his own company.

Meta CRO John Hegeman meta departs to launch a new startup, leading to executive changes in the company's AI initiatives.

The move represents a notable change in leadership as the Facebook parent continues its efforts to advance superintelligence technologies.

In a Facebook post, Hegeman said that Andrew Bocking will assume his duties. Bocking, who leads Meta’s ads product and strategy team, will take over as the company reshapes its senior ranks.

The development comes on the heels of a Financial Times report last week that Meta’s chief AI scientist, Yann LeCun, is preparing to leave the company to create his own startup.

His potential exit emerges at a time when Meta is rapidly expanding its investment in artificial intelligence.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently reshaped the company’s AI operations, bringing its major projects under a newly formed division called Superintelligence Labs.

The move underscores Meta’s push to strengthen its AI infrastructure and accelerate progress in advanced research.

Earlier this year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg brought in Alexandr Wang, former CEO of data-labeling startup Scale AI, to lead the company’s expanded artificial intelligence initiatives.

John Hegeman, in announcing his departure, described leaving with “a mix of emotions” and expressed gratitude to Zuckerberg for his support and confidence.

Hegeman also confirmed that Naomi Gleit, Meta’s head of product, will take over as head of the company’s business AI division, reflecting the ongoing restructuring of Meta’s leadership team.

Clara Shih, who joined Meta last year to head the company’s business AI division, is leaving the firm, Bloomberg News reported.

According to the report, Shih’s decision comes after the sudden passing of her father earlier this year.

Bloomberg News also first reported the departure of John Hegeman. Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
