Who Owns JDE Peets: Keurig Dr Pepper has agreed to buy JDE Peet’s in a deal valued at more than $18 billion. The coffee group is known for brands like Douwe Egberts, Kenco, and Peet’s Coffee.
Once the deal closes, the business will be split into two. One company will handle soft drinks. The other will focus entirely on coffee. The announcement was made in a joint statement on Monday.
Keurig Dr Pepper has agreed to pay €31.85, or $37.26, in cash for each share of the Dutch company. The deal puts the total purchase price at €15.7 billion, or $18.4 billion.
Once the takeover is finalized, the business will be split into two. One will operate as Beverage Co.

The other will run as Global Coffee Co. News of the deal sent Keurig Dr Pepper’s stock down 8% on Monday morning.
Dr Pepper was the second most popular soda in the U.S. last year. Only Coca-Cola sold more, while Pepsi fell behind. Coffee, though, tops them all.
Americans drink an estimated 516 million cups every day. The United States is also the world’s biggest buyer of coffee. But the cost of that habit is climbing.
Climate change, global unrest, trade tariffs under former President Donald Trump, and surging demand have all driven prices higher. Over the past five years, coffee prices have nearly doubled.
“This is the right time to move forward,” said Tim Cofer, CEO of Keurig Dr Pepper. He explained that the company is operating from a position of strength.
Its finances are solid, its portfolio is gaining momentum, and the coffee market is showing resilience.
The newly formed Global Coffee Co. is expected to bring in about $16 billion in annual revenue.
The company will be the world’s largest pure-play coffee business, with sales spanning more than 100 countries. The split will take place as soon as it is feasible.
