I doubt there will be many fond memories of this game in the future.

Atletico’s coach Diego Simeone chose to rest some of his important players. That included goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

He had a strong season, conceding just 30 goals in 36 games. It was the fifth time in his career he finished with the best goals-to-games ratio.

So, Simeone decided to keep him on the bench for this match.

Atletico had the ball for nearly the whole match. But they did not score until the 68th minute. Girona made a mistake.

Rodrigo De Paul intercepted the ball and laid it off for Sorloth. The Norwegian slotted the ball well into an empty net. The goal had finally come.

Defender Clement Lenglet scored from a rebound in the 87th minute. Then, in added time, Sorloth took over.

He made the most of two quick breaks. He scored twice, wrapping up the match in style for Atletico.
