The 26-year-old cricketer created history by becoming the first player in the world to score 150 runs on ODI debut.


Breetzke opened the innings for South Africa in the second match of the Tri-Nation ODI Series.


The game was played against New Zealand at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on February 10.


He played a brilliant knock, scoring 150 runs off 148 balls. His innings included 11 fours and 5 sixes.


Breetzke Breaks a 46-Year-Old Record

Before Breetzke’s achievement, the record for the highest score on ODI debut belonged to Desmond Haynes.


The former West Indies opener scored 148 runs off 136 balls against Australia. This record was set on February 22, 1978, in St. John’s.


He played a brilliant knock, hitting 16 crisp fours and launching two massive sixes.

Fourth South African to Score a Century on Debut

Breetzke joined an elite list of South African cricketers who have scored a century in their first ODI match.


Colin Ingram was the first. He scored 124 runs against Zimbabwe in 2010.


Temba Bavuma followed in 2016, scoring 113 runs against Ireland.


In 2018, Reeza Hendricks made 102 runs against Sri Lanka.


Now, Breetzke has taken this achievement to another level with his record-breaking 150.


South Africa Posts a Strong Total

Breetzke's outstanding innings helped South Africa to a good score. In 50 overs, they scored 304 runs, losing six wickets.


In addition to him, Wiaan Mulder performed well. He scored 64 runs.


For the fourth wicket, the two batsmen formed an important 131-run partnership.
