Von Scales: Trina Braxton's husband, Von Scales, has died. A representative for the singer confirmed the news to TMZ on Oct. 1. The couple married in 2019.
The family shared a brief statement through the representative. It called Scales a beloved husband and said the family was grieving.
The family thanked supporters for their prayers and asked for privacy. No cause of death has been shared.
A Second Major Loss
Braxton is a mother of two sons, Eric and Caleb. She shares them with her late ex-husband, Gabe Solis.
Fans know her from the reality series "Braxton Family Values."
Solis died on Dec. 20, 2018, after a cancer battle. He was 43. Braxton announced his death on social media.
She said he had been a key part of her family's life for more than 16 years.
A New Chapter
Braxton found love again soon after. She got engaged to Scales in 2019. The proposal happened during a family trip to Napa Valley, California. Cameras were rolling for the show at the time.
She described the moment to Entertainment Tonight that April. She said Scales set the ring box on the table, and she was overcome with emotion.
Braxton also spoke about how Solis's death changed her outlook. She said it showed her how short life is. She urged people to settle conflicts while they still can.
She credited Scales with helping her through that period. She said he stayed by her side.
She also acknowledged it could not have been easy for him to watch her grieve another man.
Another Loss for the Braxton Family
Scales' death comes four years after Braxton's sister, Traci Braxton, died. Traci had been battling esophageal cancer.
