Sophia Bush: Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris are married. The actress shared the news in her upcoming memoir.
She and the former professional soccer player wed privately in upstate New York in the summer of 2025.
Bush, 44, and Harris, 40, have been together for three years. Harris' two children, Sloane and Ocean, attended the small ceremony.
The couple confirmed the wedding to Vogue in a story published Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Bush said the private setting reflected where they are in life.
She explained that people reach a point where they sort out what belongs to them and what has always been shared with others.
Both women have spent much of their adult lives in the public eye. Bush is best known for her acting career.
Harris played professional soccer. Bush said those careers come with real privileges. She also said they come with costs.
For their wedding, the couple skipped the pressure of a large event. The day centered on the children.
Harris said they picked flowers from the property, and Sloane carried them. She said the day was fun for the kids because it was not overwhelming.
The evening ended with the family roasting marshmallows. Bush described the night as "zero pressure." She said she will never forget it.
The couple did not post an announcement afterward. Instead, they traveled the country to tell family and friends in person.
Bush said she waited until everyone close to them knew before going public.
She also had a personal reason for sharing. Bush said she was tired of calling Harris her "partner."
She told Harris that she is simply her wife. Bush added that it feels wonderful to say.
The news comes ahead of Bush's first book. "And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress" arrives Oct. 27. The memoir has been close to 10 years in the making.
Bush told PEOPLE that her literary agent and several editors had asked her to write a book for a decade.
She said no for nine years. She said she agreed only when she felt ready.
She added that once her life felt settled, she understood why readers might want her story.

Bush writes that years of public scrutiny made her want the moment to belong to the two of them first.
She also writes about the long marriage of Harris' grandparents. It helped her see Harris as the person she wanted to build a life with.
The memoir also addresses her choice to marry again. Bush knows from experience that marriages can end.
She was married to actor Chad Michael Murray from 2005 to 2006. She was married to Grant Hughes from 2022 to 2024.
Bush and Harris were first linked in October 2023. Bush came out as queer in a 2024 Glamour cover story.
She also confirmed the relationship in that interview.
Harris told Vogue that visibility matters to them. She said the conversation is bigger than the two of them.
She pointed to young people who may not yet see themselves represented. In her words, "the visibility piece matters."
Bush and Harris both serve on the board of the Human Rights Campaign. They are longtime supporters of LGBTQ+ causes.
