Grand Theft Auto 6: Gamers got a fresh glimpse of "Grand Theft Auto 6" this week.
Netflix streamed an exclusive preview of the title on Thursday. The game is set to hit shelves on Nov. 19.
The 25-minute clip reel showcases the game's two lead characters. Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos pull off a string of heists.
Their targets include convenience stores, jewelry shops and diners. Police chases follow close behind.
The footage opens with the pair arriving at an apartment for what looks like a drug deal.
The scene quickly turns into a shootout with law enforcement. Viewers also get a tour of Leonida, the game's fictional state modeled on Florida.
Jason and Lucia are shown driving through the state, visiting bars and tangling with trouble along the way.
The preview stems from a partnership between Netflix and Rockstar Games. Rockstar developed the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise.
Viewers without a Netflix account can catch the preview elsewhere. It aired Thursday on Rockstar's website and on YouTube at 9 p.m. ET.
A Long-Awaited Sequel
Excitement has been building for years. "GTA 6" arrives 13 years after "GTA 5" first launched. Rockstar originally planned a 2025 release.
The studio pushed the date back twice, citing extra time needed for development.
That anticipation has taken unusual forms. One U.S. Army unit in Georgia is dangling a four-day gaming pass in front of soldiers. The catch: they have to sign a reenlistment contract first.
Rockstar has released trailers and screenshots to keep fans engaged. Leaked spoilers have also spread online.
The company addressed the leaks in a social media post Wednesday.
"While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19," Rockstar said.
Sales Projections and Pricing
Investment bank Piper Sandler projects big numbers for the title. The firm estimates "GTA 6" will sell 35 million copies by April 2027, according to Forbes.
For comparison, "GTA 5" moved 11 million copies on its release day back in September 2013, Forbes reported.
Rockstar hasn't disclosed a development budget. Industry estimates suggest the figure runs into the billions.
Pre-orders are already live at major retailers, including GameStop and PlayStation. Prices start at $79.99. The "Ultimate Edition" tops out at $99.99.
The Story Behind GTA 6
Netflix's fan site, Tudum, calls the game the franchise's "most immersive evolution" yet. Jason is an Army veteran.
Lucia is the series' first female protagonist. According to Rockstar, she lands in Leonida Penitentiary after "fighting for her family."
The two get swept into a criminal conspiracy. Together, they carry out heists and other crimes across Florida's fictional counterpart.
"Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them," Rockstar's official description reads.
"But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."
Supporting characters round out the world. Cal Hampton appears as one of Jason's friends.
Boobie Ike, dubbed a "Vice City Legend" by Rockstar, uses his street connections to build a business empire.
