The Nigerian-British boxer was involved in the crash while traveling in a Lexus SUV. Authorities confirmed that two other passengers died in the incident.

Joshua was seated in the rear of the vehicle at the time of the collision. The crash occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu.

Sagamu is the ancestral hometown of the two-time heavyweight champion.

Police said the accident took place at approximately 11 a.m. local time. Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash.

Joshua’s condition was described as stable, and he did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Anthony Joshua was admitted to a specialized hospital in Lagos after being involved in a road accident and is reported to be in stable condition, officials said.

Local authorities confirmed that the crash is under active investigation. The Ogun State Police Command said the incident involved a Lexus SUV transporting the former heavyweight champion.

Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle when the collision occurred. Police said he sustained minor injuries and is receiving ongoing medical treatment.

Two other occupants of the vehicle died at the scene of the accident. No additional information on the cause of the crash has been released.

Nigerian police said the vehicle transporting Anthony Joshua struck a parked truck on the side of the road, according to information shared with ESPN.

Authorities said they have not yet determined which vehicle the two victims were traveling in at the time of the crash.

Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo said the accident was triggered by a tire failure on Joshua’s vehicle. The sudden blowout caused the driver to lose control, police said.

The vehicle then swerved and slammed into the stationary truck. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

Officials said the crash claimed the lives of two people, while Anthony Joshua was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Authorities confirmed that Joshua required immediate medical attention following the incident.

The Nigerian-British boxer had been in Africa after a recent bout in the United States.

Joshua secured a sixth-round knockout win over Jake Paul in Miami nine days earlier. Later on Monday, the governments of Ogun and Lagos States issued a joint statement.

The statement said Joshua and another passenger were quickly removed from the scene.

Both were transported to a specialized medical facility in Lagos. Officials said Joshua is continuing to receive medical care.

Medical officials said both individuals assessed after the crash are in stable condition following thorough examinations. Doctors said neither patient currently needs urgent medical intervention.

Authorities confirmed that Anthony Joshua remained conscious throughout treatment. He has been able to stay in contact with his family, officials said.

Photos shared on social media show Joshua being helped out of a severely damaged vehicle.

The images capture him appearing to be in visible pain. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, addressed the incident in comments to the Daily Mail.

Hearn said he was traveling with his family when he first learned about the crash. He said the news reached him shortly after he woke up.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, said he has not yet spoken directly with the boxer and is avoiding speculation about his condition.

Hearn said photographs from the scene indicate that Joshua appears to be in stable condition.

He said more clarity is expected once official information is confirmed. Hearn added that updates will be shared as soon as details are verified.

The Ogun State Police Command also addressed the incident. Police said further statements will be issued as the investigation moves forward.

Anthony Joshua’s recent win over Jake Paul brought his professional record to 29 victories in 33 fights.

The victory appeared to bring him closer to a potential 2026 showdown with British rival Tyson Fury, who is currently retired.

Paul, who was defeated by Joshua on December 19, offered his support following the news of the crash.

On social media platform X, Paul emphasized that life is more important than boxing.

He said he was keeping the victims, Joshua, and everyone affected by the accident in his thoughts and prayers.
