“Ben will always be my friend,” Campbell told the Detroit News. “That part never changes. But right now, it’s about Chicago. We’re preparing to win. We have no other choice.”
The game holds plenty of pressure for both sidelines. Johnson’s first outing as a head coach ended with a clock-management mistake and a loss to the Vikings on Monday night.
If the Bears fall again, they’ll drop to 0-2.
It could also fuel doubts about whether Johnson is better suited for drawing up plays than running an entire team.
A 0-2 start would be a major setback for Campbell’s Lions. This team entered the year aiming for a Super Bowl push.
Losing two straight to division rivals would brand them as the NFL’s biggest disappointment after just two weeks.
