Jonathan Toews Contract: Jonathan Toews is all set to return home. He plans to join the Winnipeg Jets once NHL free agency begins on July 1. The team shared the news on social media this Friday. Fans are excited to see him wear the Jets jersey.


Jonathan Toews is signing a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Jets. Sources told ESPN that the contract includes multiple performance-based bonuses.

Toews, a former captain of the Chicago Blackhawks, led the team to three Stanley Cup titles.


He's now making a comeback to the NHL.

This return comes after missing two full seasons due to inflammatory and immune system issues.

The Jets recently won the Presidents’ Trophy. However, they were knocked out in the second round of the playoffs by the Dallas Stars.


Jonathan Toews stepped away from hockey in 2023. This came after the Blackhawks made it clear they wouldn’t re-sign him.


His eight-year contract had come to an end. Around the same time, the team also traded his longtime teammate, Patrick Kane.

It marked a new chapter for the franchise, focused on a complete rebuild. Toews had struggled in his final two seasons with Chicago.


He was dealing with chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS) and the lingering effects of long COVID.


Back in November 2024, Jonathan Toews opened up on social media. He talked about a five-week healing trip he took to India. It was a time for reflection, recovery, and personal growth.


Toews said he was feeling better and that things were “finally heading in the right direction.” Since then, he’s been slowly ramping up his training.


For the past few months, he’s been focused on getting his body and mind ready for a return to the NHL.

In total, he played 1,067 games and racked up 883 points. That included 372 goals and 511 assists.

Toews also shined on the international stage.


He helped Team Canada win Olympic gold in both 2010 and 2014. In 2017, during the NHL’s 100th anniversary celebration, Toews received a major honor.


He was named one of the NHL’s 100 Greatest Players, alongside Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith.
