Andre Burakovsky Contract: The Chicago Blackhawks have made a new move. They picked up Andre Burakovsky from the Seattle Kraken. In return, the Kraken received forward Joe Veleno.
Burakovsky is 30 years old. Last season, he played 79 games for Seattle. He scored 10 goals and added 27 assists. That gave him a total of 37 points.
Andre Burakovsky is a two-time Stanley Cup champion. He still has two years left on his current five-year deal. His cap hit stands at $5.5 million per season.
Seattle Kraken GM Jason Botterill shared his thoughts. He said Andre was an important part of the team for three years.
Botterill wished him and his family all the best in Chicago.
He also added that the trade brings value to the Kraken. They’ve gained a young forward with NHL experience. Plus, this move gives them more flexibility with their salary cap.
Andre Burakovsky has played in 696 NHL games so far. Over his career, he has scored 153 goals and 234 assists. That brings his total to 387 points.
He’s suited up for three teams — the Capitals, Avalanche, and Kraken. He started with Washington, where he played from 2014 to 2019. Then came a stint with Colorado from 2019 to 2022. Most recently, he played for Seattle.
Burakovsky was a first-round draft pick in 2013. The Capitals selected him 23rd overall that year.
Joe Veleno is 25 years old. Last season, he played 74 games. Those games were split between the Red Wings and the Blackhawks. He scored 8 goals and added 9 assists, totaling 17 points.
In his NHL career so far, Veleno has appeared in 306 games. He has recorded 38 goals and 43 assists. That gives him a total of 81 points.
He began his career with Detroit. The Red Wings picked him 30th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft. He played for them from 2021 to 2025 before joining Chicago.
