Blade Tidwell: The Mets made a big move this morning. The team has fully called up Blade Tidwell.

This announcement made headlines earlier in the week. The right handed pitcher will finally hit the big league mound for his debut.

Fans are anxious to see Tidwell pitch. The Mets made a statement that they are getting prepared for something special with this announcement.

Blade Tidwell called up by Mets as Danny Young exits.

The clock is ticking, it is all about Tidwell's debut!

Blade Tidwell is now filling Danny Young’s 40-man roster slot.

Young has been placed on the 60-day injured list with an elbow problem that will require Tommy John surgery, per Will Sammon from The Athletic.

It’s unfortunate for Young, but good news for Tidwell to be able to make a name for himself.

Fans will be waiting to see how this affects the Mets moving forward.

The Mets optioned right-hander Austin Warren down to the minors to open up space for Blade Tidwell.

But it was a very temporary move. Mere moments after putting Warren down, he was back in the big leagues.

As the 27th man for today's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Warren is back with the big league roster.

This is a smart little roster move by the Mets. They keep their options open and their bullpen fresh.

Fans will be watching both pitchers with hope they can contribute today.

Tim Healey of  Newsday reports an interesting roster strategy the Mets are using this season.

After Blade Tidwell starts Game 1 today, the team plans to option him back to the minor leagues.

With that move, Dedniel Núñez can be called up, and he can pitch in Game 2 of the doubleheader.

Earlier this morning, Mike Puma of the New York Post had reported that Núñez was flying to St. Louis.

This is a thought out strategy to keep the pitching staff fresh! The Mets are obviously thinking ahead.

Next month Blade Tidwell will turn 24. He was selected by the Mets in the second round of the 2022 draft, and right off the bat, he proved he was ready to go to work.

In five starts in 2022, he had an impressive 1.93 ERA. No slow start - he was ready to roll. Now, he is ready to take the next big step in his progress.

Blade Tidwell imposed himself in the lower levels of minors. He looked totally relaxed out there, like he knew exactly what he was doing every step of the way.

But after a promotion to Triple-A mid-2024, that changed. He was challenged for the first time in his career in that season.

The results in Triple-A weren't always pretty. It was a rough stretch, no doubt.

But a couple of struggles don't mean all is lost; it's all part of the process, and every time out, even when it's not the results you want or how you envision it, are taking you one step closer to becoming a better pitcher.

Blade Tidwell struggled with Syracuse last season. He ended up with a 5.93 ERA in 85 innings.

This year, he's still working to improve. His first six starts have resulted in a 5.00 ERA. While the numbers don't look great, he's giving it his all.

He's pushing through the good and bad times. Each start brings him closer to hitting his stride.

Even with the highs and lows promising indicators are evident. Blade Tidwell has an impact on batters striking them out at a remarkable 31.6% clip.

This figure catches the eye. His walk rate stands at 8.5%. It's not flawless, but it's manageable.

These numbers point to genuine talent waiting to emerge. He possesses the skills—the next step is to bring everything together.

Blade Tidwell’s challenges this season might not be entirely his fault. His unusually high .369 BABIP could be a significant factor.

That inflated figure hints that he’s faced some bad luck along the way. Keeping that in mind, today’s start could turn out much better for him.

His Triple-A stats don’t paint the full picture. If things go his way, Tidwell might just deliver a performance that exceeds expectations.
