Doha Open 2025: After having a hamstring injury, Novak Djokovic has recovered surprisingly. He will now participate in the Doha Open 2025 the following week.
The 37-year-old confirmed that he is healthy and has been given the all-clear to play.
Djokovic’s Injury and Quick Comeback
In the Australian Open quarterfinal matchup with Carlos Alcaraz, Djokovic tore his hamstring.
In the semi-final match against Alexander Zverev, he attempted to continue but was injured and had to quit.
Many fans, who spent up to $1000 on tickets, were disappointed as they barely got to see the match in its entirety.
There was skepticism regarding the extent of the injury. Djokovic published a medical scan that verified the rupture, although some questioned its seriousness.
According to early indications, he might miss two months of work. Many believed he wouldn’t return until the French Open.
But he was back to normal after three weeks. Djokovic said in a Vijesti interview:
"The rupture is gone. The injury is almost 100% healed. My medical team has cleared me to train and compete."
He acknowledged that as he ages, he suffers more injuries. His drive and passion for the game, however, are still very strong.
Starting His 100th ATP Championship
At the Doha Open 2025, Djokovic hopes to create history.
He now holds 99 ATP singles titles, and a victory in Doha would become him the third player in history to reach 100 ATP titles, a feat previously only done by Roger Federer (103) and Jimmy Connors (109).
Since winning gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, he has been trying for this success.
He fell to Jannik Sinner in the Shanghai Masters final in October, which was his closest opportunity.
"I hope the 100th title comes in Doha. I have been waiting for this since last year. But I know it will happen at the right time," Djokovic said.
In 2016 and 2017, Djokovic won the Doha Open twice. He would make the ideal recovery from his injury with a victory in 2025.
Continuing His Partnership with Andy Murray
Djokovic and Andy Murray are still collaborating in a coaching partnership. Ahead of the 2025 Australian Open, he hired Murray as a coach.
At first, it was unclear if they would continue to collaborate. However, according to The Times of London, they will go on until at least Wimbledon 2025.
Murray is expected to join Djokovic at Indian Wells next month, but he will not be in Doha. Regarding their collaboration, Djokovic said:
"I'll catch up with Andy to personally thank him for his support. We'll figure out the next steps together soon."
Doha Open 2025: A Crucial Tournament for Djokovic
For Djokovic, the Doha Open 2025 is its important event. He might finally win his 100th ATP title at this tournament.
Many have been shocked by his speedy comeback. Fans and analysts will closely monitor his return to the court. In Qatar, everyone is ready to see if he can create history.
