Harry Potter Audiobooks: Harry Potter fans have big news. All seven Full-Cast Audio Editions will soon be free to borrow.

Readers can get them through participating public libraries worldwide.

The Wizarding World is in the spotlight again. HBO's upcoming television reimagining has fans talking.

Many expect the franchise's popularity to last for the next decade. Yet the audio version has quietly dominated the past year.

A Three-Stage Rollout

Pottermore Publishing made the announcement. The libraries will release the audiobooks in three waves.

The first wave arrives on December 1, 2026. It includes "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone."

It also includes "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." The third title is "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

The second wave lands on January 5, 2027. It brings "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." It also brings "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

The final wave follows on February 2, 2027. It completes the series with "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." It also adds "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

A Star-Studded Cast Behind the Microphone

The production features a lineup of well-known actors. Cush Jumbo, known for "The Good Fight," narrates the series.

Hugh Laurie of "House" voices Albus Dumbledore. Matthew Macfadyen of "Succession" plays Lord Voldemort.

Riz Ahmed of "Sound of Metal" voices Professor Severus Snape. Kit Harington of "Game of Thrones" plays Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.

Keira Knightley of "Pirates of the Caribbean" takes on Professor Dolores Umbridge.

The young heroes have two sets of voices. Frankie Treadaway voices Harry Potter in the first three books.

Max Lester voices Ron Weasley. Arabella Stanton voices Hermione Granger.

Three new actors take over from "Goblet of Fire" onward. Jaxon Knopf becomes Harry. Rhys Mulligan becomes Ron.

Nina Barker-Francis becomes Hermione. They stay in the roles through the final book.

Why Libraries Matter

Jennie McCann, Managing Director of Pottermore Publishing, explained the move. She said libraries play a vital role in connecting people with stories.

In her view, those stories can spark a lifelong love of reading.

McCann said the company is delighted to bring the audiobooks to libraries. She hopes new listeners will discover the magic of Hogwarts.

She also hopes longtime fans will rediscover it through an immersive listening experience.

She added that everyone should have a chance to enjoy great storytelling.

Libraries, she said, remain one of the best ways to make that happen. They can also inspire the next generation of readers.

The first three audiobooks arrive at participating public libraries on December 1, 2026.

The remaining four follow on January 5 and February 2, 2027.
