But they agree on how to guide their eldest daughter's music career.
Kardashian discussed family life in an interview with The Sunday Times, published Oct. 4.
She said she and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, work to stay "aligned" on North's plans. The former couple split in early 2021.
Kardashian said communication on this topic has improved. She said they make sure North only takes on projects that both parents approve.
North is 13. Kardashian and Ye also share Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7.
Kardashian said North is the most driven of the four when it comes to creative work.
She said North wants to take on public-facing projects almost exclusively.
Kardashian said she is the one who holds her back. Her goal is to let North enjoy each moment instead of accepting every offer.
North has already built a notable résumé. Billboard named her to its 2026 Under 21 list, which features 21 young artists. She released her debut EP, "N0rth4evr," in May.
She made chart history at age 10. "Talking," a collaboration with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, reached No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
That made her one of the youngest artists to appear on the chart. She also featured on the duo's 2024 album "Vultures."
North addressed public criticism in a Billboard interview this summer. She said many people have opinions about her choices.
She added that young artists need to find their own identity before the world defines it for them.
In September, North headlined her first solo show in Chicago. Both of her parents attended and supported her from the crowd.
A planned joint tour with Molly Santana was set for earlier this year. The tour was later canceled.
Kardashian and Ye began dating in 2012. They married in 2014 in a ceremony in Italy.
Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021. The divorce was finalized in November 2022 through a settlement.
