Bruce Willis: Emma Heming Willis marked World FTD Awareness Week with a rare photo of her husband, Bruce Willis.
The image shows the actor enjoying a sunny day outdoors. She shared it on Instagram on Oct. 1.
Heming Willis, 50, is her husband's caregiver. Willis, 71, is best known for "Pulp Fiction." He lives with frontotemporal dementia, or FTD.
In her caption, she said she could not let the week pass without speaking about him.
She called him the driving force behind her advocacy. She said he has opened many doors for her. She vowed to keep walking through them.
She also pledged that his diagnosis would not be in vain. She said he would be proud to know he is helping families affected by FTD and other forms of dementia.
She added that those families and their care partners deserve to be seen and heard.
Heming Willis described this stage of his life as a new chapter in which he continues to build his legacy.
She called him a "legend" and said she is proud to be his wife. The original caption used stronger language.
The couple married in 2009. They have two daughters, Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12.
Willis also has three daughters with his ex-wife, Demi Moore. They are Rumer, 38, Scout, 35, and Tallulah, 32.
The post comes nearly a month after Heming Willis gave an update on her husband's health.
In an interview with MS NOW, she said the family still shares many moments of joy and connection.
She said it is important to show those moments. She believes a negative narrative surrounds dementia.
She said that narrative needs to be reframed. She warned that avoiding the topic leaves patients and caregivers unseen.
She said it also leaves them unsupported.
