Zoe Saldaña: Zoe Saldaña says she's not looking to expand her role in Taylor Sheridan's growing television empire anytime soon.
The actress has spent three seasons starring in and executive producing "Lioness," Sheridan's spy thriller for Paramount+.
But when it comes to joining any of his other shows, Saldaña is drawing a firm line.
In an interview published Sunday, the 48-year-old told People that her character, Joe McNamara, and "Lioness" already demand everything she has to give.
She said balancing her acting duties with her producing responsibilities leaves little room for anything else.
Saldaña explained that she's typically the first person on set and the last to leave.
She also noted that her prep work begins months ahead of the rest of the cast and crew. According to her, that workload alone rules out taking on another Sheridan project.
Despite declining to expand her involvement, Saldaña made clear she respects Sheridan's process.
She said her dedication to "Lioness" has shown him she's dependable, comparing herself to her on-screen counterpart, Joe.
She described bringing her full effort — heart, intellect and determination — to every project, adding that she's satisfied staying focused on "Lioness" alone.
In the series, Saldaña plays a CIA operative running a covert unit of female operatives pulled from multiple military branches.
The team's mission involves infiltrating terrorist networks by building relationships with the wives and daughters of key targets. Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman round out the cast.
When "Lioness" returned for its third season in August, Saldaña had praised Sheridan's writing, noting his deep interest in government and world affairs translates into scripts that inform audiences as much as they entertain.
She acknowledged that working with him pushes her to raise her game, describing the experience as demanding but ultimately one she embraces.
Saldaña's comments follow news that her "Lioness" co-star Michael Kelly is expanding his own role within Sheridan's world.
Kelly has joined the cast of "Landman" for its third season, which started production earlier this month.
