Rick Devens: The Big Brother Season 28 finale is close. The winner will take home a $750,000 prize.
Two houseguests are now one competition away from controlling the final vote.
Taylor Brown won Part 1 of the Final Head of Household competition. Rick Devens then beat Drew Campbell in Part 2.
That result sets up a head-to-head battle in Part 3. The winner will choose which player to take to the Final Two. The finale airs Thursday, Oct. 1, on CBS.
Campbell's two losses came as a surprise. He has reportedly been dealing with a knee injury, which appears to have happened during a recent competition.
Both Finalists Appear Ready to Take Campbell
Either player is expected to bring Campbell to the end, though for different reasons.
Devens has a loyalty agreement with Campbell. He may also worry about his chances against Brown.
If he cut Campbell, the "father" figure in their bond, Campbell could vote for Brown in retaliation.
Brown has her own motives. Cutting Devens would be a bold final move. It would also strengthen her case to the jury.
Her recent wins undercut the idea that she has been a floater in the house. Taking both the Final Four and the final HOH would boost her résumé.
Campbell's Path to the Finish
Campbell now appears headed for second place no matter what.
That has some fans questioning his decision to cut Dee Valladares instead of Devens.
But the choice may have been sound. Campbell needed to win to have a shot at the title against Valladares and Brown.
Otherwise, he would have finished third. His knee injury could have been a factor in either scenario.
Early Outlook on the Winner
CinemaBlend's assessment is that Devens would likely win any Final Two he reaches.
Brown appears to have the edge only if she faces Campbell. It seems unlikely that Devens could persuade her to take him instead.
Viewers will find out on finale night whether another first-time player wins the crown.
The other possibility is that a former Survivor contestant takes the title.
