The film follows 2024's Oscar-winning blockbuster "Godzilla Minus One." Director Takashi Yamazaki returns to helm the project.

Toho unveiled a fresh teaser trailer for the upcoming film. The story picks up in 1949.

That's two years after the events of "Godzilla Minus One." The Shikishima family faces a brand-new threat.

Ryunosuke Kamiki reprises his role as Koichi Shikishima. He portrayed the hero who battled Godzilla in the first film.

Minami Hamabe also returns as Noriko Shikishima. Her character survived Godzilla's original attack on Tokyo.

The cast welcomes a notable new addition. Min Tanaka joins the lineup. He recently starred in the acclaimed film "Kokuho."

Tanaka will play Kanji Murakami. The character is a biologist haunted by wartime trauma.

Several familiar faces are set to return as well. Hidetaka Yoshioka reprises his role as Kenji Noda.

His character now leads the Disaster Response Bureau. Yuki Yamada comes back as Shiro Mizushima.

He played a young crew member aboard the Shinseimaru. Kuranosuke Sasaki returns as Seiji Akitsu, the vessel's captain.

Sakura Ando also reprises her role. She plays Sumiko Ota, Shikishima's neighbor. Her character now runs a local orphanage.

Miou Tanaka returns too. He portrays Tatsuo Hotta, the former captain of the destroyer Yukikaze.

According to Toho, these characters survived the earlier battle against Godzilla. Now they must confront the monster once again.

"Godzilla Minus One" made history at the box office. The film earned more than $116 million worldwide.

It became the highest-grossing Japan-produced "Godzilla" movie. The film also won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

That marked the first Oscar win for any "Godzilla" film. It was also the first time a Japanese film won in that category.

GKids will distribute "Godzilla Minus Zero" starting Nov. 6.

The release includes Imax theaters. The date falls just days after Godzilla's 72nd anniversary.

Notably, this will be the first Japanese film shot specifically for Imax screens.
