Sources close to Kiffin also told CBS Sports that he’s still wrestling with the decision, given how significant it is.
Those who know Lane Kiffin well say he tends to wrestle with major decisions. For that reason, most people are avoiding bold predictions until his signature is on paper.
As CBS reporter John Talty noted, this isn’t the first time. Back in 2022, many believed he was all but set to take the Auburn job.
In the end, he surprised everyone and stayed in Oxford. Right now, if any program can pull Lane Kiffin out of Oxford, it’s LSU.
The job carries tradition, championship expectations, and the kind of support most coaches can only hope for.
