Earthquake San Jose Today: A series of tremors shook parts of Northern California early Wednesday morning.

    
A series of tremors is hitting Northern California, including the main 4.0 magnitude earthquake San Jose today near Gilroy.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the activity started with a magnitude-4.0 earthquake that struck near Gilroy around 6:15 a.m.


Gilroy, situated southeast of San Jose, experienced several smaller quakes after the initial jolt. Authorities said there were no early reports of major damage or injuries.


The U.S. Geological Survey said the first strong quake hit just east of Gilroy around 6:15 a.m. It was originally measured at magnitude 4.3.


Officials later reviewed the data and updated the reading, confirming the quake’s strength at magnitude 4.0.


Tremors Felt Across San Francisco

A magnitude-2.7 aftershock hit roughly two minutes after the first quake. Another tremor, measuring 3.9, followed at around 6:20 a.m.


Residents reported feeling the shaking across the region, including in parts of San Francisco.


The South Bay experienced the most noticeable movement. Officials said no damage had been reported in the immediate aftermath.


FlightAware and the Federal Aviation Administration reported no immediate impact on operations at San Jose Mineta International Airport after the tremors.


Meanwhile, many residents turned to social media to describe the sudden jolt they felt during the series of quakes.
