Trump China Tariff 2025: President Trump’s new tariff announcement has once again sparked the trade war with Beijing. He suggested that the new tariffs could be implemented earlier if China makes further moves or policy changes.
Trump stated that the U.S. will slap an extra 100% tariff on all goods coming from China. The decision follows Beijing’s plan to tighten export rules on rare-earth minerals supplied to other countries.
Trump revealed that the new tariff is set to begin on November 1. He also mentioned that his administration plans to roll out export restrictions on all critical software starting the same day.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump expressed disbelief over China’s actions. “It’s hard to imagine they actually did this,” he wrote. “But they did—and now, history will remember it.”
Earlier in the day, Trump warned of sweeping new tariffs, which quickly rattled the U.S. stock market. He said the move came after China took what he called an “extremely aggressive approach to trade.”
Trump claimed that Beijing has sent letters to several countries, outlining plans to restrict exports of materials tied to rare-earth production.
He added that China even wants to control items not made within its borders. Trump compared these efforts to an attempt by China to dominate the rare-earth market.
“This decision affects every nation, without exception,” Trump said. He insisted it was clearly a strategy China had been planning for years.
“Such actions are unheard of in global trade,” he added. “They show a complete disregard for fairness and decency in dealing with other countries.”
