Bob Myers HBSE: Bob Myers is taking on a new challenge. The former NBA executive is leaving ESPN to join Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) as president of sports. The organization, headed by Josh Harris and David Blitzer, oversees several major professional sports teams.

Former Warriors GM Bob Myers HBSE joins Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment as President of Sports, overseeing the 76ers and Devils.

HBSE has built a powerful presence across global sports. The company owns the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, the New Jersey Devils in the NHL, and England’s Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

It also holds a stake in the Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR team. Bob Myers, best known for shaping the Golden State Warriors dynasty, will now lead and manage HBSE’s entire sports portfolio.

HBSE announced on Friday that Bob Myers will maintain his collaboration with Josh Harris. Harris, who serves as the managing partner of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, has worked with Myers before.

Myers was instrumental in helping build the team’s leadership and will continue to lend his expertise in that area.

“I’ve had the privilege of knowing Josh and David for a long time,” Myers said in the announcement. “I’ve always respected their work and how they’ve created such a strong global sports presence.”

He added, “This role excites me because it offers the chance to work alongside some of the top leaders and executives in the world’s biggest sports leagues.”

“HBSE’s worldwide presence in sports opens the door to new opportunities for our teams and athletes,” Myers said. “It allows us to gain a competitive edge and strive for greater success.

This is the kind of challenge I was eager to take on. I’m grateful to Josh and David for welcoming me to HBSE.”

Myers shared his appreciation for media executives Bob Iger and Jimmy Pitaro. He also thanked his ESPN teammates for an unforgettable experience and their support as he steps into a new chapter of his career.

Known for his strong leadership, Myers was pivotal in the Commanders’ recent GM and coaching hires. His contributions helped steer the franchise toward a turnaround.

This change brings a fresh dynamic to the NBA. Myers will now oversee the 76ers and their basketball operations chief, Daryl Morey. The pair have a shared history that dates back to the height of the Warriors-Rockets rivalry.

The move sparks curiosity about its potential impact on the 76ers under Morey. It also shows what a veteran, accomplished former GM could contribute to the team’s future.

Before joining the Warriors’ front office in 2011, Myers spent more than ten years as a sports agent. He steadily advanced within the organization, ultimately serving as president and GM.

In 2023, he stepped away from the Warriors. Later that year, he began working with ESPN as a basketball analyst, contributing to both pre-game and post-game coverage.

“Our aim has always been to attract, nurture, and retain the best executives in the world,” Harris and Blitzer said in the announcement. “Bringing Bob Myers on board makes HBSE even stronger and more dynamic.

His experience in building championship teams will strengthen our leadership and help us maximize opportunities across the entire portfolio. We’re excited to see Bob continue his impressive career with HBSE.”
