Danny Ward: Wrexham have signed Wales international goalkeeper Danny Ward. He becomes their second addition of the summer window.

The club continues its preparations for a return to the Championship.
Ward is 32 and began his football journey at The Racecourse Ground.

Danny Ward joins Wrexham on free transfer.

He joins Wrexham on a free transfer after parting ways with Leicester City.
“It’s a special moment and a great feeling to return to this club,” said Danny Ward. He has signed a two-year deal with Wrexham.

Ward added, “I’ll always be thankful for the chance the club gave me early in my career. I want to give something back now.”

Ward has made 44 appearances for Wales at the international level.

He’ll link up with fellow new signing Ryan Hardie — the former Plymouth Argyle striker.

Both players will travel with the team to Australia on Sunday.
Wrexham will play three matches during the tour, which ends in New Zealand.

Danny Ward’s return adds strong competition to a vital position.
Arthur Okonkwo has been Wrexham’s first-choice goalkeeper for the past two seasons.

He played a key role in helping Phil Parkinson’s team finish second in both League One and League Two.
Callum Burton, who joined from Plymouth Argyle last year, started the season when Okonkwo broke his wrist.

But Burton faced his own setback after tearing his thigh muscle.
That led to Mark Howard stepping in. He started six league matches before Okonkwo returned to the line-up early in the New Year.

But Okonkwo’s early return didn’t go as planned.
He struggled with form and made key errors in a surprising 3-2 home defeat to Stevenage.

He was directly at fault for two of their goals at the Stōk Cae Ras.
This poor performance led manager Phil Parkinson to bring Mark Howard back into the starting XI.

The 38-year-old veteran then started the next three league matches.
Okonkwo, now fully fit, reclaimed his spot in the 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town on February 22.

Okonkwo bounced back in style. He kept 10 clean sheets in the final 14 matches of the season. His strong performances helped Wrexham secure second place in the league.

He also firmly re-established himself as the team’s No. 1 goalkeeper.
With Mark Howard now released at the end of the season, a new challenge begins.

Danny Ward’s role will be to raise the level of competition.
Wrexham are now gearing up for their first season in the Championship in 43 years.
