A Tough Start

After the first leg, Miami was behind 1-0. The work became harder.


Aaron Long of the LAFC scored in the ninth minute. Overall, the deficit grew to 2-0.

At first, the referee allowed it. But LAFC protested. Messi needed to take it again. The goal was ruled out.


Messi and Suárez Spark Hope

Miami continued to happen. Suárez and Messi worked well together.


Messi hit the top corner with a rocket. The total score went to 2-1.


Once more, Suárez was involved. Noah Allen got his pass. The ball was chipped into the box by Allen.


It was headed home by Federico Redondo. Miami leveled the tie even at 2-2.


Messi’s Ice-Cold Winner

Both sides looked for a winner. VAR stepped in at the 84th minute.


In the box, LAFC made a handball. A penalty was imposed by the referee.


Messi took the lead. He stayed his calm. He misled Hugo Lloris's message. The ball hit the net. Miami had a 3-2 overall lead.

Miami is now in the semifinals against the Vancouver Whitecaps. In the other match, Cruz Azul and Tigres will face off.
