John Stamos: It took John Stamos just one scene. He knew Lori Loughlin was right for the part.

Stamos shared the memory at a recent "Full House" reunion. Several former castmates gathered at '90s Con in Connecticut on October 18.

Back then, he had doubts. Loughlin was joining the show as Aunt Becky. Her character would be Jesse Katsopolis's love interest. Stamos wondered if she could stand up to Jesse.

He had even told series creator Jeff Franklin that she seemed cute and adorable. But he questioned whether she was tough enough to keep Jesse in line.

Those doubts vanished fast. Stamos said she put him in his place in her first scene. He added that she blended sweetness with a bit of edge.

Loughlin had her own story. According to PEOPLE, she was only supposed to appear in six episodes. Instead, she became a lasting part of the sitcom.

The two actors were no strangers. They knew each other from their days in daytime television.

Loughlin joked that Stamos still teases her about one awards moment. She once presented an award that he lost to "All My Children" actor Darnell Williams.

Loughlin first appeared on "Full House" in its second season. The series ran for eight seasons, from 1987 to 1995.

Many cast members returned for the Netflix sequel "Fuller House." That series ran from 2016 to 2020.

Stamos also opened up about another close friend from the show. That friend was Bob Saget.

He spoke at an October 13 fundraiser for the Scleroderma Research Foundation.

There, Stamos said he sees reminders of Saget in his 8-year-old son, Billy. He said Saget's spirit seems to be coming through the boy.

Saget died in January 2022. He was 65. His death was caused by blunt head trauma from an accidental fall that no one witnessed.

That bond has inspired a new project. Stamos is writing a children's book with Billy. It is titled "Love From Above: A Story of Tiny Birds and Their Big Meaning."

The story explores how loved ones can stay present in unexpected ways. The book is scheduled for release on April 20, 2027.
