She discussed grief nearly 10 years after Carrie Fisher's death. Fisher died in December 2016.
Lourd described the experience as both "trippy" and "special."
Her young children are getting to know their grandmother through her on-screen performances.

Lourd said she's had to explain the difference between Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia.
Her children are four and six years old. She said the concept is still difficult for them to grasp.
Lourd called the films a gift. She compared them to a high-budget home video. Her kids get to see their grandmother often, she said.
She added that Fisher was so similar to her famous character that watching the movies has become a way for her children to know her.
Lourd also listens to her mother's audiobooks regularly. She described walking through LAX while listening to Fisher's voice as a singular experience.
It's one of the ways she keeps her mother's memory close.
She reflected on how grief changes over time. Losing someone often means losing the chance to talk about them, she said.
But because so many fans have their own connection to Princess Leia, Lourd said she gets to hear new stories about her mother constantly.
She also shared a moment from a recent fan convention. A fan gave her a Band-Aid that Fisher had signed years earlier.
Lourd called it one of the coolest parts of her grief journey. She said meeting fans felt overwhelming at first.
Nearly a decade later, she said she now welcomes the chance to talk about her mother.
Fisher rose to fame in the 1970s as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy.
She died in 2016 following a medical emergency on a flight. Her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, died just one day later.
Last year, Lourd marked the ninth anniversary of her mother's death with a tribute on Instagram.
She shared a childhood photo with Fisher and her father, Bryan Lourd.
In the post, she described a quiet morning with her daughter, who told her "I love you mama" before they went to breakfast with Lourd's father.
She wrote about watching her father play with her children, calling it one of the greatest joys she's experienced.
